Directions:

By car:
From M25, Southbound (clockwise) Exit at Junction 30/31 and follow A13 straight ahead (Purfleet / West Thurrock) to J31(A1306). At the roundabout follow the directions for the Aveley turn off and head up Ship Lane. At the mini-roundabout (High Street) turn left. At the next mini-roundabout turn right into Mill Road. The entrance to the ground is 600 yards on the right (after St. Michael's Close).

By rail (and bus):
There are several routes, all of which involve long bus journeys! The simplest are:

  1. District Line to Elm Park then by 372 bus towards Lakeside. As the bus gets to Aveley it turns right at a large roundabout onto Mill Road. Get off just after that. Follow the road in the same direction as the bus is going and the entrance to the ground is on your left.
  2. National Rail from Liverpool Street or Stratford, towards Shenfield. Get off at Romford and take a bus to Elm Park (routes 165, 252 or 365). Then get the 372 as above.

LOCAL PUBS

The nearest Good Beer Guide entry is actually in Grays and is either the THEOBALD ARMS in Argent Street or the WHITE HART in King's Walk. In Aveley itself there is the football club bar. Slightly further afield, the Essex Beer Guide lists CAPABILITY BROWN, Park Lane, in Belhus Park (no real ale); TOP HOUSE, Purfleet Road (no real ale but may change); MARISCO (no real ale) and SIR HENRY GURNETT, both in Romford Road; and CROWN & ANCHOR, OLD SHIP and PRINCE ALBERT all in High Street. Of these the ones in High Street and Purfleet Road are probably nearest to the ground. The EBG mentions that children are welcome at the Prince Albert and that the Sir Henry Gurnett has a children's playground. However, please remember this guide is getting a bit long in the tooth (with no promise of an updated one to follow) so the details may be a bit out of date.
